Good to know this September

Here’s the answers to some of the most common questions about September in Brighton & Hove.

Yes, September hits a Brighton sweet spot. It’s often still mild enough for a day by the seafront, while the autumn calendar gets moving with comedy, live music, heritage, food, workshops and plenty more. Bring a layer for later and leave some room in the diary.

It depends on the event. Lots of events in Brighton & Hove are free, while others need to be booked in advance. Popular gigs, comedy nights, theatre shows and festivals can sell out, so if there’s something you really want to see, booking early is always a good idea.

September is usually mild, but Brighton weather likes to keep things interesting. Average highs are at 19°C and lows at around 11°C, with rain on roughly eight days. Pack layers, sunglasses and a light waterproof, possibly all for the same afternoon.

Yes. Albion’s men are scheduled to host Leeds United at the Amex on Saturday 5 September and Arsenal on Saturday 19th of September, both at 3pm. Albion Women also play Aston Villa at the Amex on Sunday 20th of September at 2pm. Fixtures can move, so check the club’s latest listings before setting off.

You’ll find all the latest Brighton football fixtures on our calendar (coming soon), including matches at the Amex with Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. Perfect for planning your pre-match pint or post-match celebration.

September 2026 welcomes back the Brighton & Hove Triathlon on the 6th of September, Heritage Open Days from 11th to 20th of September, DOGTEMBER at Saltdean Lido over four weekends from 12th of September, Brighton Cocktail Festival from 18th to 27th of September and the Ageing Well Festival from 25th of September to 9th of October. History, sport, cocktails, community & dogs in a lido, very Brighton.
