SUMMARY:The Science of ADHD & Sleep
DESCRIPTION:Understanding the connection between ADHD & Sleep\, and finding a better way to sleep and rest. Followed by Q&A.\nAre you constantly battling sleepless nights\, restless energy\, or the mental fog of sleep deprivation? \nMany individuals with ADHD face unique challenges with sleep – from difficulty falling asleep to feeling completely out of sync with their natural body clocks. This talk explores ADHD and sleep through both science and lived experience\, including how factors like gender\, ethnicity\, and systemic inequalities impact diagnosis and support. By understanding how your neurodivergent brain works\, you can stop blaming yourself for sleep struggles and start building routines that actually work for you. \nInstead of rigid rules\, learn practical strategies tailored to your unique needs. Learn how light exposure regulates melatonin and your internal clock\, giving you actionable tools to calm nighttime restlessness\, optimize daytime focus\, and manage your energy. Attendees will leave with a deeper reflection on their own sleep patterns and brain-friendly techniques to restore balance\, resilience\, and quality of life through self-compassion. \nDoors open at 7pm\, talk starts at 7:30pm – come down early to grab a good seat! \nFollow us on IG @seedtalks \nSpeaker bio: \nHeather Darwall-Smith is a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist specializing in sleep and neurodivergence. Working internationally at the intersection of psychotherapy\, chronobiology\, and sleep medicine\, she is one of very few practitioners integrating depth therapy with circadian and neurodevelopmental science. She holds a master’s in mindfulness-based psychotherapy alongside advanced training in sleep medicine\, CBT-I\, and MBCT. \nHer work reframes insomnia as an expression of nervous system history\, attachment patterns\, and biological timing – with specialized expertise in ADHD and delayed sleep phase. Heather is the author of The Science of Sleep (DK\, 2021)\, How to Be Awake So You Can Sleep Through the Night (HarperCollins\, 2025)\, and The ADHD Sleep Book (2026)\, and contributes widely to media and professional networks. \nThis talk is 16+
